The Katapila kids party was held on the last day of term 2 2012 to celebrate the survival of all the trees planted by the kids themselves in May 2011 and to say good-bye to Kris Biddle, a volunteer from USA who taught English at the schools for 6 weeks.
The party was attends almost all of the 317 pupils aty Katapila.  They took part in 3-legged races and dance competitions, they sang and blew bubbles and threw balloon water bombs.
. . . and the best games?
300 kids all trying to catch bubbles and playing 'catch' with balloons full of water
Everyone had to bring a plate
and a cup . . . . .
. . . for fresh bread and strawberry jam, biscuits and sweets and fruit juice. It wasn't healthy but a great treat when you've never tasted jam before.

There were prizes for caring for the trees, winning races and dance competions, and there were prizes for just turning up for the party - no-one went home empty handed.
